Left for the Vultures Character Builder

The Left for the Vultures Character Builder is a free, browser-based character creator for Left for the Vultures, an unforgiving dark fantasy tabletop roleplaying game created by Vasilie Odin Crisan and published by Deimos Infinitum Publishing, LLC. It requires no account, download or installation, and exports a filled PDF character sheet.

In Left for the Vultures, the game master is called the Fatebinder and player characters are called Revenants. Revenants are people driven by vengeance through a world of ruin, horror and moral decay. The builder covers 10 breeds, 21 disciplines, 186 masteries, 12 archetypes, full equipment, and all 13 injury and mental scar tables.

How character creation works

Character creation is a point-buy system. Every Revenant begins with 400 Ashes and five steps:

  1. Identity: name your Revenant and decide why they are still here. Optionally start from an Archetype.
  2. Breed: choose one of 10 breeds. Breed bonuses apply after all Ashes are spent and are the only way to raise an Attribute above 10.
  3. Size: Little, Average, Big (Tall) or Big (Wide), each granting a bonus.
  4. Ashes: spend your 400 Ashes on Attributes, Burdens, Disciplines and Masteries.
  5. Equipment: fill up to 10 equipment slots with armor, weapons and concoctions. Note: some weapons and armor take up more than 1 slot.

It walks you through identity, breed, size, spending Ashes, and equipment, then exports a filled PDF character sheet.

Is the Left for the Vultures Character Builder free?

Yes. The character builder is completely free, runs in any modern web browser, and requires no account, sign-up, download or installation. Your character is built locally in the browser and exported as a PDF character sheet.

How does character creation work in Left for the Vultures?

Character creation is a point-buy system. You begin with 400 Ashes and spend them on Attributes, Burdens, Disciplines and Masteries. You then choose a Breed and a Size, whose bonuses are applied after all Ashes are spent. Finally you select equipment to fill up to 10 slots.

What are Ashes in Left for the Vultures?

Ashes are the character creation and advancement currency. Characters start with 400. Raising an attribute costs 5 Ashes times the new value, a Discipline costs 50 Ashes and includes one free Mastery, an extra Mastery costs 30 Ashes, and 5 Ashes buys 1 PH or 1 MH. Leftover Ashes are banked for later.

What breeds can you play in Left for the Vultures?

There are 10 playable breeds: Ashenborn, Blackvein, Changeling, Coldblood, Elf, Gremlin, Human, Orc, Twice-Blooded and Unborn. Each grants benefits applied after all Ashes are spent. A Twice-Blooded character chooses two parent breeds and takes one benefit from each.

What is a Fatebinder?

How do Vengeance dice work?

Most characters start with 3 Vengeance dice, each a d4*. They can be spent at any time without using an action to boost any roll, heal PH or MH, end a condition, or gain 30 feet of free movement per die. They are fully regained at the start of each session.

What are PH, MH and Grit?

They are a Revenant's Burdens. PH (Physical Health) measures the body's ability to endure injury; at 0 the character needs surgical aid or takes a permanent injury. MH (Mental Health) tracks the mind against horror; at 0 the character rolls for temporary insanity. Grit is the reservoir of focus that fuels Masteries.

Can the builder export a character sheet?

Yes. The builder fills the official Left for the Vultures PDF character sheet with your attributes, burdens, breed, size, disciplines, masteries, equipment and any mental scars, then downloads it. The sheet remains a fillable PDF so you can keep updating it during play.

Do I need the rulebook to use the builder?

No. The builder contains every rule needed to create a character, including all breed benefits, mastery effects and equipment statistics. The core rulebook gives you the full game, including combat, magick, the setting, and guidance for running it as a Fatebinder.
